Meet Sr Kate van Wyk

Sr. Kate van Wyk is a passionate and highly qualified veterinary nursing professional with a deep love for cats. She graduated from Onderstepoort in 2013 and went on to complete her BSc in Zoology and Microbiology at Rhodes University. Following her studies, Kate broadened her expertise by traveling to Ireland, where she registered with the Irish Veterinary Council and undertook additional training.

In 2016, Kate returned to her hometown of Cape Town to join Hillside Veterinary Practice, where she continues to work and thrive in a field she loves.

Her passion for cats, especially the Lilac Burmese, inspired her to open Kate’s Place Cattery. Her beloved Burmese companion, Bibs, accompanied her through her university years and sparked her dream of creating a space where cats can relax and feel at home. Today, Kate shares her life with four beautiful cats and dedicates her time to providing exceptional care to feline guests at her cattery.

For Kate, life is better with cats – and at Kate’s Place Cattery, she gets to spend her days surrounded by them!
